How do I receive English channels in Cyprus

I’m not sure as it came when I built the house. It’s a fte dish a standard size like the one sky use to give you when you subscribed. I can get 1457 other channel none of them English

If you get 1457 channels, none of them English (absolutely none?), the satellite dish antenna is not pointed at Astra 28.2° East. Tell us the name of 6 or 7 channels that you get now.

Maybe the dish is pointed at satellite Eutelsat Hot Bird 13° East.
These channels:
• Radio Kiss Kiss Tv (Italian music channel)
• Netflix (Polish void channel)
• Al Jazeera HD
• Al Jazeera English
are on satellite Eutelsat Hot Bird 13° East, as well as one English channel:

Where are you? Which size of dish? In the FTE page you gave there are two sizes: 58 x 51 cm and 80 x 74 cm.

80 x 74 cm is not a big dish.
In Cyprus with 300 cm and 420 cm no reception on Astra 2E 28.2°E UK Spotbeam, according to two reports.
Maybe you can receive there Astra 28.2°E Europe Beams, but not with 80 cm.
• Satellites Astra 2E/2F/2G 28.2°E Europe Ku-band Beams only

Maybe with only 60 cm you will be able to pick up UK-Spotbeam transponders there.
• Astra 28,2° Est Coverage Maps
With 80 cm or 90 cm you would get more robust signal to counter wet weather attenuation we think.

I live in northwest algeria, I have 1.2m dish, I have signal for the astra 28.2, unfortunately I could not get the bbcs, itvs, and the rest of the uk channels except for like HGTV, REALLY CBN about 83 of those. Can you help out on how to get the uk channels you know, bbcs, itvs, and the rest? many thanks

• HGTV on Astra 2F and Astra 2G Europe beam
• Really on Astra 2F Europe beam
• CNBC on Astra 2G Europe beam

According to the maps in NW Algeria:
• You can receive European beams frequencies
• Theoretically you can't receive UK-Spotbeam frequencies

Thank you so much for your response, you are absolutely right, the channels I'm receiving are astra 2G and 2F. The English channels starts on transponders 10714 which there is no quality at all. Do you think with a bigger dish i could get the english channels? Can a 1m5 dush or bigger do the trick? Many many thanks sir

you won't get the BBC on a regular basis;
it will vary according to propagation
the limit is Valencia you are too south
High pressure helps
better receptuion October to February

Hello there, many many thanks for your answers, Although I'm not giving up completely. Some guys reported that they receive the uk spotbeam fine with all the channels with a 1.8m dish. They are just north of almeria. I'm gonna try a 2m or 2.4m dish as I live roughly 250km South of that reported position across the sea. I will let you know if I get anything.
